The Police and the Policed
The New Yorker

ABABA was tasked with creating compelling imagery to accompany Saki Kanfo's article for The New Yorker titled Bridging the Divide Between the Police and the Policed.

The article explores efforts by New York’s Mayor and N.Y.P.D. to “create a bond” between police officers and communities of color — a goal hindered, according to high-level officials, by the selection of the "wrong people for the right job."

ABABA faced a unique creative challenge: with no direct access to the officers featured in the story, we had to work exclusively with their publicly available portraits from precinct websites. Our solution transformed these static images into dynamic, thought-provoking visuals that amplified the narrative’s depth and complexity.
